The Wind and the Sun were arguing who was stronger. Then they saw a traveller coming down the road. And the Sun said, “Now I have a way
to decide
who is stronger. Let’s see who can make that traveller take off
his
cloak(斗篷). If you make it, I will agree you are
better
than me. You begin.”
“It’s a piece of cake,” the Wind said
happily
.
After hearing this, the Sun smiled and went behind the clouds, and the Wind
began
to blow as hard as he could.
But
the harder he blew, the more closely the traveller wrapped his cloak around him. In the end, the Wind was so
tired
that he couldn’t keep on.
The Wind had to give up. He wanted to know
if/whether
the Sun could make it. The Wind said, “Show me if you can make it.”
Then the Sun came out and
tried
his best to shine all his heat and light on the traveller. A few minutes later, the traveller felt really hot,
so
he took off his cloak. Who was stronger?
